Age of Reason

Age of Reason, one of the most popular sets of rules for the Seven Years War, is now in its 3rd edition. Units are battalions of infantry, regiments of cavalry, and batteries for artillery, with units usually having 12 figures each. Brigades are activated by card draw for movement, with both sides exchanging artillery fire, then small arms fire, followed by melee. Linear formations and having supports factor greatly into the fire and melee systems. The rules cover every army for the Seven Years War, War of the Austrian Succession, and American Revolution, plus there are army lists for the French & Indian War along with the British in India. There is also a great campaign system included called The Sport of Kings. Our group uses the 15mm scale with figures from Old Glory, Essex, and there's even some old Minfigs still in the units!

Gaming & Warning Order Updates

Getting Back to Normal Hopefully Soon

We realize the web site updates have been far and few between the last year, but that's been mainly due to the pandemic. Getting everyone together has been a challenge so most nights we have maybe 3-4 players and it's been pretty short notice with small games that haven't provided enough images for an update! However, we're trying to make the best of it and we are doing some gaming. In the last few months we have an Age of Reason game going on, we played Gunfighter's Ball (Western)last Friday (which was a lot of fun), the Osprey Age of Sail game, and to celebrate the recent Mars landing we played Terraforming Mars. We're planning to do an Age of Eagles game soon, more Blitzkrieg Commander, and at some point when everyone gets back together a huge Hail Caesar game. Warning Order #56 is moving along nicely and at this point should be completed by the end of April. There will be several battle reports, board game reviews, two new Engagements scenarios, a short campaign system, and the usual regular features. I would like to get in some more in depth articles, but I may run out of time as I don't want the publication deadline to slip any further.
