Warhammer English Civil War

This is a variant of the Warhammer Ancient Battle rules and looks to be at a scale of 1:10. The rules will be familiar to anyone who has played WAB, although the special rules for muskets, pistols, and cavalry combat takes some re-reading.

FOR KING or PARLIAMENT

Warhammer English Civil War is a variant of the successful Warhammer Ancient Battles series. Using basically the same system, it has been adapted to the English Civil War by some unique rules and army lists. The first thing is that musketry, pistols, and long range artillery have been added to the system. Also, there are four unique armies with their own characters and lists, which give some variation in a civil war where usually everything is the same on both sides. Play is basically the same as WAB, but the rules governing the use of ammunition play a critical factor in the game.

This is has been a new period for us and we are just getting how the interaction between pike, musket, and horse work. As with everything else when we jump into something it's usually in a big way. After one year we already have close to 500 figures finished and plenty of terrain. We look to be playing this period for probably quite some time and are even contemplating a campaign in the near future.

One of the interesting things with this era is that there is limited information on uniforms, regiments, flags, etc..., on the surface, so you really have to work at it to get good information. The WECW egroup, Caliver Books, and the Osprey series are great sources of information if you are thinking of getting into this period.

Although we have sold off our armies for this period there has been renewed interest this year so it looks as if we will get back to this period sometime soon.

25mm figures by Old GLory, Redoubt, Renegade, Bicorne, and Foundry.

We have about 3,000 points of Royalist, about 3500 points of Parliament, and several units of Scots.
